Spartan
Tutoring LLC provides an after-school program for
Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The
tutoring curriculum has been developed in
accordance with a comprehensive literacy model and
which correlates with the current GLE's as well as
the recently adopted Common Core Standards. While
maintaining a focus on the five essential reading
components identified by the National Reading
Panel (phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension,
vocabulary, and fluency), the curriculum offers
authentic opportunities for students to actively
participate in reading and writing-resulting in
improved reading and writing skills/strategies.
"Read Alouds" (poetry/mentor texts),
Shared Reading, Guided Reading, Word
Work/Vocabulary Development, Modeled Writing,
Interactive Writing (Kdg-2nd), Written
Response/Reflection, MAP Connections (3rd-5th),
and Comprehension Strategies are included
throughout each session/cycle demonstrating to
students that reading and writing are reciprocal
processes.

Students
are administered a pre-test to determine their
current level of learning and placed according to
their strengths/concerns. Teachers document
student progress through anecdotal records and
parents are provided with progress reports every
3-4 weeks. During the final week of tutoring, a
post-test is given to determine students' growth.
A site
coordinator/teacher will be selected in each
district. Every effort will be made to hire
teachers within the district as well. All
necessary materials are included in an organized
kit so teachers can follow daily lesson plans with
minimal preparation.
Even though Spartan
Tutoring LLC is a tutoring "program",
our primary focus is on teaching individual
students rather than dictated curriculum.
